Whiting Woman Dies in Multi-Vehicle Accident

Chain reaction collisions can happen anywhere that traffic congestion is sufficiently heavy. Sometimes they occur in rush hour traffic, where a green light does not always guarantee that you have enough time or enough room to drive across an intersection. In stop and go traffic such as one often finds in heavily populated areas, people play it by ear about when it is safe to accelerate and how fast they can go, even though the safe speeds are often below the posted speed limit. Sometimes one car has no opportunity to move forward except when the light is red, and it rear ends the car in front of it, and that car collides with the front of it, and so on until you are left with a situation that it would be funny if it were a children’s book about cause and effect, but is actually a nightmarish tangle of insurance claims, even if no one gets seriously injured, and even though personal injury protection (PIP) insurance coverage is abundant in New Jersey. Another common scenario for chain reaction collisions is icy roads like the ones that New Jersey has been experiencing ever since Winter Storm Fern dashed our hopes that we would have a mild winter this year. Four Vehicles Collide at Intersection in Freehold Township

In January 2026, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 537 and Siloam Road; that stretch of Route 537 is also known as Monmouth Road. While the two cars were stopped in the middle of the intersection after crashing, two other vehicles collided with them. In three of the four cars involved in the accident, no one suffered severe injuries. Meanwhile, the woman in the fourth car was trapped inside her vehicle, and first responders had to extract her from her car. Her injuries were severe enough that she required airlift transport to a hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The Patch website did not publish the victim’s name, but it said that she was 73 years old and that she was a resident of Whiting.

Justice for People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collisions

Determining fault for car accidents that involve more than two vehicles can be complicated, and it can take even longer than normal for the insurance companies to send settlement offers and determine the amount to offer each claimant. If you only crashed because another car hit you, then it is likely that the insurance companies will attribute little or no fault to you. You can still recover compensation through a PIP claim, regardless of how much fault you bear for the accident.
