Laundromats and Premises Liability

Laundromat

No one ever said that laundromats were fun, but we tend to think of them as places of low-level discontent, rather than outright catastrophe. If you are at a laundromat, it means that you are so poor that you have to be fully dressed to do your laundry. The sounds of people playing games on their phones or watching entrepreneurship influencer content are even more annoying than they are on public buses, because the time it takes to wash and dry your laundry at a laundromat is longer than the duration of a bus trip, and on a bus, there is always hope that the most annoying people will get off the bus at the next stop or that a friend of yours will get on. It is theoretically possible for two non-materialistic people to meet at a laundromat and fall in love, but when was the last time two people made a love connection in person or loved anything except their devices? Most of the time, the best-case scenario at a laundromat is that you come home after your only day off from work feeling even more tired and frustrated than you did the previous evening, but at least you have clean clothes for the next week, and the worst-case scenario is that you slip on soapy water on the floor of the laundromat and get injured, but sometimes it can be even worse than that. If you got injured in an accident at a laundromat, contact a premises liability lawyer.

Two Vehicles Crash Through Wall of Laundromat in Newark

Collisions in the parking lots of strip malls are a frequent occurrence; this is why strip mall parking lots frequently make the top ten in people’s lists of pet peeves about suburbia. Most of these accidents are only painful in the financial sense and do not cause physical injury, but in April 2026, a strip mall parking lot fender bender took a turn for the worse. A pickup truck crashed into a car in the parking lot of a strip mall in Newark, and the impact sent both vehicles crashing through the front window of a laundromat in the strip mall. One of the vehicles hit a customer who was sitting at a table near the front of the laundromat; she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. An employee of the laundromat was also injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening. The occupants of the vehicles were not injured. The injured person and the family of the woman who died have the right to seek compensation from the parties responsible for the accident, which could be the owner of the strip mall.
